Philippines Ranks 2nd among ASEAN on Digital and Sustainable Trade Facilitation

Philippines ranks second-best among Southeast Asian (ASEAN) countries in the 2023 United Nations Global Survey on Digital and Sustainable Trade Facilitation, scoring 87.10%. The Bureau of Customs (BOC) had set a significant milestone in transforming the BOC into a world-class customs agency in modernizing customs administration and improving trade facilitation. 

Commissioner Bienvenido Y. Rubio stated the achievement indicates our country’s commitment to adopting new technologies and fostering a more inclusive, sustainable trading environment. 

With the Philippine Export Development Plan (PEDP), BOC complies with enhancing export trade facilitation through digitalizing customs processes and strengthening collaboration with various agencies. BOC digitalized 161 among 166 customs processes, achieving a 97% digitalization rate. These digitization initiatives in the pipeline include the BOC ePay Portal System, the e-Auction System, the Automated Export Declaration System (AEDS), and the National Customs Intelligence System. Read more.
