NEW 2023 highlights “Agile Philippines: Empowering Exporters towards Global Excellence”

The Department of Trade Industry – Export Marketing Bureau (DTI-EMB), in collaboration with the Export Development Council (EDC) and the Philippine Exporters Confederation Inc. (PHILEXPORT), altogether led the celebration of the 26th edition of the National Exporters’ Week 2023, with the theme, “Agile Philippines: Empowering Exporters towards Global Excellence.” This year’s theme highlights the importance of developing and capacitating exporters to be agile and resilient amidst a volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous (VUCA) world so that our exporters and our export industry can achieve global excellence and recognition.

Consistent with the PEDP, the National Export Congress (NEC) emphasizes the importance of developing agile exporters who can quickly respond and adapt to the fast-changing international trading environment and the role of export enablers in empowering Philippine exporters towards global excellence.

The NEW 2023 week-long celebration was held at the Sheraton Manila Hotel, Pasay City, from December 4 to 7, 2023.  Strong collaboration with export enablers was also featured in the following events:

Capacity building workshop for women-owned/led businesses, as part of the EMB, International Trade Center (ITC), and Women Business Council partnership under the SheTrades Philippines Hub and supported by Visa Foundation;
Philippines-European Union (EU) Partnership Conference, which includes the launching of an e-curriculum on six export-related topics in partnership with the Philippine Trade Training Center (PTTC), ITC, and EU; 
Design Thinking Masterclass in partnership with the Design Center of the Philippines (DCP);
Exporters’ Exhibit to showcase some of our best export products;
Export Enablers Exhibit, which will feature and make available to Philippine exporters the programs and services of our public and private sector partners. Exporters may avail of free onsite business advisory services, including export management and marketing;

Business-to-business activities aimed at increasing backward linkages of Philippine exporters and
Fireside chats on key topics such as building resilient supply chains, recent export innovations, and exporting in the digital age.

National Export Congress has put a spotlight on the collective vision of both the public and private sector for the Philippines export industry, to establish the Philippines as a leading exporter of high-value products and services by 2028 while leveraging our superior knowledge and talent to cater to the diverse needs of global consumers and producers.

Additionally, top exporters and export enablers were honored and recognized during the Exporters’ Night for their contributions to Philippine export development and growth.

This year’s Top Sectoral Awardees are as follows: TEXAS INSTRUMENTS PHILIPPINES INC. for Electronics; PHILIPPINE ASSOCIATED SMELTING AND REFINING CORPORATION for Minerals; YAZAKI-TORRES MANUFACTURING, INC. for Transport; AMERICAN POWER CONVERSION for Electricals; DOLE PHILIPPINES INC. for Food; PILIPINAS KAO INC. for Chemicals; CARGILL OIL MILLS PHILIPPINES, INC. for Oils, Fats & Waxes; EHS LENS PHILIPPINES, INC. for Fashion Accessories; SANYO DENKI PHILIPPINES, INC. for Machinery; and L AND T INTERNATIONAL GROUP PHILIPPINES, INC. and for Garments and Textiles.

Furthermore for the Services Sector, Awards were given to DIGITEER, INC. for Software Development; POINTWEST TECHNOLOGIES CORPORATION for Healthcare Information Management System; THINKBIT SOLUTIONS for Game Development; WIPRO PHILIPPINES INC. for Knowledge Process Outsourcing; TRANSCOM WORLDWIDE (PHILIPPINES) INC. for Information Technology-Business Process Management; TOP DRAW ANIMATION INC. for Animation.

In addition, Special Awards are given to the following: The Product Diversification Awards were awarded to PIXCEL TRANSGLOBAL FOODS INC., GEM FOODS INTERNATIONAL, INC., UNIVERSAL ROBINA CORPORATION, and IBIDEN PHILIPPINES INCORPORATED.  In contrast, the New Market Diversification Awardees were awarded to DOLE PHILIPPINES INC. and ALRIVER EXPORT CORPORATION.
