ITC Synergizes with BOI and ARISE Plus Philippines to strengthen Industrial policy

The International Trade Centre (ITC), in collaborative partnership with the DTI Board of Investments (BOI) and ARISE Plus Philippines, jointly synergized a Public-Private Dialogue (PPD) on ‘Innovating Industrial Policy in the Philippines. The initiative aims to explore and strengthen industrial policies as follows:

(a) Adopting a robust process/framework in the development, monitoring, and implementation of industrial policy in the Philippines; and
(b) Aligning trade and investment policies to facilitate digitalization and technological development to contribute to innovative, circular and sustainable, and resilient industries.

The dialogue focused on international experiences/best practices from other jurisdictions, understanding the existing contexts in the Philippines, and how the lessons learned can enhance industrial policy efforts.

Assistant Secretary Allan Gepty of the DTI-Industry Development and Trade Policy Group calls for action from the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) to launch Vigorously Advanced Research and Development (R&D) on Technology and Patents to make Filipinos reliable partners globally.

Further, ASec. Gepty affirmed his commitment by saying, “Let’s work together in moving the Philippines forward!”

The PPD was held on 09 February 2023 at the Makati Diamond Residences, actively participated by the relevant stakeholders, policymakers, EDC, and PHILEXPORT. ITC recognizes the significant role of the EDC in the industrial development process. AOB
