DTI signs MOU supporting the MSME Halal Industry Development

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Alfredo E. Pascual signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the DK P.O. Fulfillment Company Inc. (DKPOFCI) to assist the local Halal Industry, specifically the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the country for non-interest-based financing opportunities for MSMEs on 16 October 2023 at Kingsford Hotel, Parañaque, Manila.

The development of the Halal Industry can produce 230 billion in trade and investments and 120,000 jobs in 5 years, which can result in the country’s fast economic growth and increase the employment rate. Sec. Pascual reiterates that the MSMEs are at the forefront of the Halal initiatives, poised to reap significant benefits. The DTI is taking substantial steps to champion its growth in this domain.

The DKPOFCI was founded in 2018 and aims to help Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) through its Fulfillment Model to achieve sustainable business performance towards their client-centered solutions. Aside from its goal of providing non-interest financing services, it will also provide assistance and programs for logistics management, quality control and inspection, custom brokerage, insurance, global sourcing, and procurement under the MOU.

There will also be the launch of the Philippine Halal Economy Festival and Invest Philippines Week, in which the DTI Secretary Pascual also recognized the importance of the private sector partnership through the GeiserMaclang Marketing Communications Inc.’s Digital Pilipinas which they can help to promote the Halal digital economy.
