DOST promotes AMCen, to capacitate PH manufacturing sector

The Department of Science and Technology – Metals Industry Research and Development Center (DOST-MIRDC) promotes its newly launched Advanced Manufacturing Center (AMCen) on 14 June 2021. The program aims to establish a NATIONAL CENTER of EXCELLENCE in additive manufacturing (AM):

  • To establish the Advanced Manufacturing Center (AMCen) as the premier hub for developing the next generation of manufacturing engineers 
  • To be the nation’s leading research center in 3D Printing and achieve prominent and outstanding breakthroughs in the R&D of innovative 3D printing technologies, processes and materials.
  • To enhance our capability in the design, materials development from local sources, testing and prototyping of products for additive manufacturing.
  • To foster effective collaborations among industry, government, academe to ensure the continued development of additive manufacturing potentials. 

The AMCen features seven (7) components or services, composed of Materials R&D, Prototyping and Fabrication, Collaboration & Partnership, Technical Services, Training Services, Education Formation, and Policy Standard. 

Moreover, they have two laboratories: the AMCen MATDEV Laboratory inside the DOST North Compound, initiated on 22 December 2020 and the AMCen Fabrication & Prototyping Laboratory, located at DOST South Compound established on 14 June 2021.  

The program also includes an ecosystem namely AMCen “CONNECTƎDMINDS” that seeks to build a community of professionals, practitioners, and innovation centers to enable the thriving of research and development and induce the adoption of additive manufacturing for advanced prototyping, product innovation and development.

Likewise, the members benefits from this ecosystem includes Training Programs;R&D Collaborations and Access to AMCen Services. 

The SMEs Exporters can also join in the said ecosystem as the program aims to support startup business and MSMEs for the low-to-medium volume of new and innovative products towards commercialization.

The annual ARANGKADA Philippines Forum of the Joint Foreign Chambers of the Philippines occurred on December 6, 2022 at the Manila Marriott Hotel in Pasay City. ARANGKADA Philippines is the major advocacy of the Joint Foreign Chambers (JFC) a partnership between the American, Canadian, Australian-New Zealand, European, Japanese,and Korean chambers of commerce and the Philippine Association of Multinational Companies Regional Headquarters, Incorporated to increase investment and employment in the Philippines launched in 2010.

PBBM orders boost on PH’s Digital Infrastructure

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. ordered a boost to PH’s Digital Infrastructure, emphasizing digitalization’s relevance in consistently improving the Ease of Doing Business in the Philippines. 

Particularly in streamlining the government’s efforts in processing and issuing permits and licenses to accelerate the development of telecommunication and internet infrastructure in the Philippines. More so, to enhance mobile cellular services and free Wi-Fi across and in remote areas of the country.

DTI Sec. Pascual led the opening of the 18th National Biotechnology Week

Trade Sec. Alfredo E. Pascual led the opening of the 18th National Biotechnology Week with the theme: “Responding to the Challenges, Business Opportunities in Biotechnology.” last 21 November 2022 at the Philippine Trade Training Center (PTTC). In his keynote, he underscores that Science, technology, and innovation are keys to moving the country toward an advanced, inclusive, and resilient future. IFEX Philippines recognizes daring and creative food products in Katha Awards 2022

The International Food Exhibition (IFEX) Philippines resumed the onsite trade show after two and half years of lockdown with the pandemic. Daring and creative companies on food exports were recognized during the Katha Awards 2022.

Katha Awards seeks to “strengthen the reputation of the Philippines as a go-to destination for globally competitive Asian food and ingredients by recognizing brands or companies that present new flavor profiles, innovative ideas, unique food fusions, and creative packaging methods in their food products.”

DTI highlights 10 Key Priorities for the Trade Industry

The new Trade Secretary Alfredo E. Pascual, also the President of the Management of Association of the Philippines (MAP) highlights the ten (10) strategic priorities of the Department of Trade and Industry. 
The key priorities aim to create opportunities for DTI and the private sector to work together for shared goals. These will also be the new administration’s focus on improving trade and industry, including export expansion believed to help in job generation and economic recovery in general.

DICT intensifies the ICT Ecosystem adapting to pandemic impact

The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) intensifies its programs/ action plans for developing the ICT Ecosystem to adapt to the impact of the pandemic and ensure various sectors’ capacity to participate in the country’s economic recovery.

Consistent with the Memorandum Circular. No. 27 that mandates the implementation of the Philippine Export Development Plan (PEDP), the DICT shall provide support to 1) promotion of trade and investment opportunities, especially in the ICT and ICT-Enabled Services sectors, 2) push for the use of ICT to automate government regulatory processes, and 3) synchronize government systems to ensure ease of doing business.

HOR supports new Administration Priorities and Gameplans for Economic Recovery

Hon. Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez, Speaker of the House of Representatives (HOR), presented the new Administration’s Economic Legislative Agenda: Priorities and Gameplans at the PCCI General Membership Meeting on 04 August 2022 at Makati Diamond Residences.

Speaker Romualdez highlighted several goals and initiatives of the New Administration, i.e., job creation, poverty reduction, food security, reduction of transport and logistics cost, as well as energy costs to families, addressing health concerns, strengthening of social protection programs in terms of face to face classes, enhance bureaucratic efficiency, and sound fiscal management.
